🗳️ Holt Hawks Took It to the Polls!🗳️

Today, our Holt Hawks proudly took to the polls to cast their votes for Student Council! After becoming officially registered Holt student voters, our students arrived at the polls with their voter registration cards in hand and proudly made their voices heard. 💙🦅

A huge THANK YOU to all of our student candidates who spent the past two weeks campaigning, sharing their ideas, and demonstrating leadership. You all did an AMAZING job!👏🏽🎉

Now, the votes have been cast, and the anticipation is building! Tomorrow, the results will be shared with all of our students.🗳️✨

Way to SOAR, Holt Hawks! We are so proud of you for participating in this exciting opportunity to learn about leadership, civic engagement, and the power of your voice!

🌮 Four Food Trucks will be on campus for you to enjoy during your student’s scheduled lunch time! There will be something delicious for everyone to enjoy while making special memories together.

This Friday is our first Fire Friday! Fire Friday is a special opportunity to celebrate students who consistently make positive choices, demonstrate leadership, and serve as role models for their peers. We want to recognize and celebrate our Hawks who truly SOAR!

This monthly event is organized and run by one of our Holt parents, Ms. Scott and our school PBIS Committee. We are looking for parent volunteers to help run games and etc. If you are interested in helping once a month from 10am-1pm, please email Ms. Kerri Scott at [email protected].

Holt Elementary Angel Shoe Tree - 2026

Did you know that on any given day two thirds (67%) of kids in the US are wearing shoes that are too small? Our parent volunteers, who have measured the feet of every Holt Elementary student, discovered that these numbers are true at our school too.

For the third year in a row, the PBIS team and the PTA at Holt Elementary School in Durham, NC are on a mission to make sure that each of our approximately 600 students receives a new pair of warm, comfortable shoes that fits their feet just right. With your help, we know we can make it happen.

There are lots of reasons that kids might be wearing shoes that are too small - shoes are expensive, families are busy, kids don’t always let their parents know as soon as their shoes feel tight, and those little feet just keep growing so fast!

Whatever the reason, wearing shoes that don’t fit correctly can cause foot pain, reluctance to participate in sports, difficulty concentrating on school work, self esteem issues and even long term foot problems.

All student council forms are due on Monday, August 17th. Please be reminded that students also need a teacher recommendation. If your student still needs a form, the may get one from the front office.

Available positions:
Positions Available:
President - 5th grader
Vice President- 4th Grader
Secretary: 3rd Grade
Representatives (2 in each grade): Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade

All candidates must set a good example in class and on campus. The candidate is Safe, Organized, Achieving Goals, and Respectful.

Once all forms are collected, candidates will be able to put up campaign posters and record their campaign speechs.
