Christian Helger's friends and family have shared the below information about his Celebration of Life that will be taking place in Boston next week. Christian graduated from the Outdoor Education program in 2016 and passed away last week after being ejected from a chairlift while ski patrolling at a ski resort in Utah. Christian’s generous spirit touched many people across different outdoor communities from his experience guiding, moving in the mountains, and working in remote medicine. We send our deepest condolences to his family and many friends.

Celebration of Life for Christian Helger

The event will be on Tuesday, January 17th, from 5-9 PM (we’ve picked a wide range to accommodate different schedules, please arrive/depart whenever you need to) at Fenway Johnnies. We’ll have some light appetizers and the restaurant and bar will be open for dinner and drinks. It’s worth noting that they are doing us a huge favor by opening exclusively for our group (and not charging us for it), so if you’re able, please support them by ordering food and drink and tipping generously.

There won’t be a formal service or program, however, there will be an opportunity to share any stories or memories you have of Christian and your time with him. Anyone who would like to share is welcome to. Funny stories are especially encouraged!

Finally, over the next few days, if you have the chance to do something meaningful to you, please take a moment to do that and think of Christian, who lived his life driven by a sense of purpose, meaning, and curiosity embedded in the things he was doing and the people he was doing those things with.

Last week we were able to take 7 students to the Northern New England Recreation & Parks Conference at the Mountain View Grand Hotel in Whitefield, NH. Our students were able to attend thanks to conference scholarships and our generous donors. Thank you to everyone who made the trip possible. Our students were able to network with alumni and professionals in the field, gain public speaking experience, and attend professional development sessions. A few of our students even received internship and job offers. We had so much fun and are already looking forward to the conference next year! Thank you to everyone who made this an exceptional experience for our students.
