EOC Fall Saturday Academy
What: An enrichment and enhancement program that provides additional support and instruction in the tested, End-of-Course subjects: Biology, Common Core Math I, and English II. This program will meet for four sessions prior to the spring EOC testing days.
Who: DPS High School Students (grades 9-12)
When and Where: The academy program will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for students. The Academy will be held at Durham School of the Arts, located at 401 North Duke Street. The dates for the 2013 Fall EOC Saturday Academy are: December 7 and 14, 2013, and January 4 and 11, 2014.
Logistics: All DPS students who are currently enrolled in Biology, Foundations of Math I/Common Core Math I, and English II are invited to participate in the program since everyone must take the EOC exam.
Transportation: Buses will pick up and drop off students from selected locations around the district. Please see the transportation schedule on the DPS website for specific pick up/drop off times and locations.

Three high schools honored for 100 percent graduation rate
Hillside New Tech High, J.D. Clement Early College High, and Southern School of Engineering were honored by State Superintendent June Atkinson on Monday, Sept. 23 for achieving a 100 percent graduation rate in 2012-13. Representatives from high-performing schools across North Carolina joined Atkinson at an awards luncheon in Durham. On hand were principals Pauletta Thompson, Gloria Woods-Weeks, and John Rollack; DPS Board of Education Chair Heidi Carter; and Jim Key, area superintendent for high schools.
The Durham Public Schools graduation rate has risen by ten percentage points in the last four years, reaching the district's strategic plan target of 80 percent one year ahead of schedule. In 2012-13, 1,944 students graduated with 81 percent planning to move on to higher education.
