The kids are officially back in school! But starting a new school year, whether that is at the same school you were at last year, starting kindergarten, or switching schools for middle school or high school… The first week (or let’s be honest, the first couple of weeks), are an adjustment. For everyone.
Whether you are battling morning meltdowns and refusal to go to school, afternoon meltdowns from a long day at school, trouble getting to sleep at night… You are not alone. Anytime children go through a major life change, such as starting school, it is understandable for things to be a little rocky at first.
If you are concerned about your child and their transition into school thus far, be sure you reach out to teachers early on to see what they are experiencing in the classroom to help give you a more holistic perspective. From there, teacher or school meetings can be helpful to get everyone on the same page and think through strategies if that is needed.
But for most children, these first couple of weeks take a little time for everyone to settle in, and you should see things level out after that.
Sending you patience, perspective, and lots of positive vibes in the week ahead. ❤️
