We aim to help break the cycle of poverty through a quality middle school education that will help empower each child to reach their full potential.

Durham Nativity School serves middle school boys who come from financially challenged (low income) families. Brotherhood means showing up for the milestones. Always.

When you send your son to Durham Nativity School, he doesn’t just get an education for middle school, he gains a brotherhood for life.

Today, DNS alumni Angel Aguilar and Jason Bonilla came out to celebrate and cheer on Noah Lousey and Laureano Cortez at Trinity School's graduation. Just last weekend, the brotherhood was celebrating Angel as he graduated from Woodberry Forest.

The journey doesn't stop here. Next year, these young men are heading to these incredible universities:
Angel ➡️ Elon University
Noah ➡️ NC A&T State University
Laureano ➡️ UNC Charlotte
Jason ➡️ Returning to UNC Greensboro for his sophomore year

DNS young men stay locked in and support each other for life.

Congratulations, we are incredibly proud of you!

DNS was proud to welcome back alumnus Sargent Zakee Heyward (DNS '12) to speak with our young men. A graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and Virginia Tech, Sargent shared powerful insights on how a DNS education serves as a lifelong advantage. Drawing from his own journey, he spoke to the students about how the discipline, values, and academic foundation built here will distinguish them from their peers in high school, college, and the competitive workforce.

Thank you, Sargent Heyward, for your service, your time, and your dedication to inspiring our future leaders!

Big smiles, high energy, and unforgettable memories!

The Durham Bulls didn’t walk away with a win today, but our Durham Nativity School students absolutely won the day. From cheering loud in the stands during an action-packed game to exploring the vibrant energy of downtown Durham, our boys showed incredible community spirit and pride.

Win or lose, these students always bring their best energy. We love seeing them learn, grow, and thrive out in the community we call home!

Four 8th graders from Durham Academy came to visit DNS as a part of their Durham Challenge project. Durham Challenge is a culminating unit in 8th grade where students are charged with “moving the needle” on a topic they are passionate about and that effects the citizens of Durham. This group is focusing on mental health, specifically mental health stigma. Their hope is by focusing on educating middle schoolers they can begin to change the narrative about the importance of getting and asking for help.

A quote from them-

My group and I looked at mental health stigma as a root cause for people not reaching out for help when in a crisis. We don’t want people to stay silent, so we need to start solving the issue of mental health stigma.
