Nobody puts “duckling rescue” in the job description... or "protect the turtle nest." But in true public works fashion, plenty of teams have shown up to do just that anyway, including our friends at Gilford Department of Public Works. 🦆 And other teams, like Town of Newmarket, NH DPW, are building infrastructure that serves non-human citizens along with the humans.

Their stories are two of several in the American Public Works Association Reporter August issue.

We love seeing Town of Marlow, NH accessing NH Department of Environmental Services grant dollars to prepare their community for winter! Two new plow trucks are joining the fleet, and they got a proper community debut before getting down to business this winter.

Pretty cool to park the new big guys out front and give residents a chance to check out what their investment helped bring to town. Congrats, Marlow!

The Town’s two new plow trucks have arrived and will be parked in the Town Office car park throughout today if you want to come and take a look at them. 80% of the cost of one and 70% of the cost of the other was funded from a Granite State Clean Fleets grant.

Rounding out August with some fantastic workshops! Participants explored culvert installation and maintenance, roadway safety, ADA and pedestrian accessibility, and best practices through Certified Culvert Maintainer recertification.

From protecting infrastructure and improving drainage to enhancing roadway safety and accessibility, these trainings provided practical tools and real-world insights that participants can apply in their communities every day, helping build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities across New Hampshire.
