Research Design Workshop with Dr. Shikhar Singh

Interested in research and how it actually works? Whether you’re working on a thesis, participating in Bass Connections, or just curious about research methods, join the Duke Election Exchange for a hands-on Research Design Workshop with Dr. Shikhar Singh.

Dr. Singh will discuss different approaches to conducting research, collecting data, and analyzing results. Participants will also work together to design a research experiment focused on elections.

Congratulations to Will Lieber T’25 for becoming a Rhodes Scholar! He is one of only thirty-two Rhodes winners chosen from more than 800 applicants across the U.S. Will, from Springfield, IL, is a fifth-generation Illinoisan. He earned a B.A. in Program II: Health & Incarceration, exploring the intersection of medicine, ethics, and justice. He is a Nakayama Scholar who graduated with the Class of 2025.

An advocate for prison and reentry system reform, he co-led educational programs in prisons throughout North Carolina, worked as an EMT and restorative justice facilitator, and led an interview team working with victims of gun violence in Durham to inform local policy reform. He is the co-author of six published articles. As a transfer student from Illinois Wesleyan University, Will held a leadership role in supporting transfer students in Duke’s Office of New Student and Family Programs. At Oxford, he plans to complete the M.Sc. in Criminology and Criminal Justice and the M.Sc. in Education.

Jenna is from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, majoring in international comparative studies. She is a Robertson Scholar and will graduate in May 2025. She is interested in social policy, criminal systems, and criminal-legal reform.
