What a week at ! 🌍 We left Glasgow reminded of the strong ties that connect our global community, the shared values that bring us together, and the power of international education to build bridges, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to peace in this moment when connection across borders matters more than ever.

Some of the many highlights of our week:

🤝 We joined EAIE: European Association for International Education, Institute of International Education (IIE), and DAAD German Academic Exchange Service (USA) for a Transatlantic Dialogue, bringing senior leaders from North America and Europe together to exchange perspectives and explore new ways to strengthen the transatlantic relationship.

🌎 We participated in the IAU-EAIE Internationalisation Leadership Dialogue 2026, with AIEA leadership joining colleagues for conversations on the future of internationalisation and opportunities for continued collaboration.

🥂 We hosted an AIEA reception welcoming members, partners, longtime colleagues, and new connections from across the U.S. and around the world. AIEA President Jane Gatewood welcomed the group and shared her appreciation for the community that makes AIEA what it is.

Established in memory of Dr. Harold Josephson, a long-time leader in AIEA and Associate Vice Chancellor of International Programs at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, this award honors deserving graduate students who are emerging as leaders in international education and are making a significant contribution to our field.

AIEA recognizes up to two Josephson awardees - The 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 recognizes a graduate student in any discipline; the 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 recognizes an advanced graduate student who has already entered the professional ranks. Award recipients in both categories receive a complimentary AIEA Annual Conference registration, and the Student Award recipient will be provided a $1,000 travel grant to attend.
