🔨 Horse Trials Prep: Show Jump Workday – Volunteers Needed! 🐴

Join us this Saturday as we tackle an important project to improve & modernize our show jumping equipment!

Under the direction of our Show Jump Chairperson, Jerry Schurink, we'll be cutting our jump poles from 12 feet to 10 feet to better suit our course inventory, arena space, and future competitions. Along with adding new key hole tracks to convert our pin & cup standards.

Many hands make light work, and we'd love your help! Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole morning, your time will make a big difference.

📍When: Saturday (exact time TBD)
🛠️Project: Cut jump poles from 12' to 10'
🗺Where: UNH Equine Center, show jump storage garage

Please bring work gloves, eye protection if you have it, and a positive attitude! If you have tools such as sawhorses, cordless drills, tape measures, or other woodworking equipment, let us know - they may be helpful.

➡Volunteers can sign up here: https://www.eventingvolunteers.com/events/18444/signup

Spotlight on our friend and official, Laurie Hudson!

At every horse trial, there is a group of hardworking officials in the background making each moment possible. We are so excited to feature some of these individuals on our channels so you can get to know them a little better. This month we are featuring Laurie Hudson ❤️

⭐ Laurie has been a USEA Technical Delegate for three years after a longtime official encouraged her to "take her place."

"I laughed and said no way could I do that!" Laurie shared. "But after some thought, I decided to do it."

⭐ One of Laurie's favorite memories as an official came while serving as an Assistant Technical Delegate at Millbrook alongside an experienced team. "I really enjoy being part of the team at an event," she said.

⭐ As a Technical Delegate, Laurie describes her role simply: "The TD is the rules person—to make sure there's a fair playing field and to help competitors understand any decisions that are made."

⭐ For Laurie, the best part of being an official is getting to interact with every corner of the sport, "from the organizer to the least experienced competitor."

⭐ If Laurie could compete anywhere in the U.S., she'd choose the USEA American Eventing Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park! And for anyone considering becoming an official, she has one important message: "We need officials! If you love the sport, consider it."

Thank you for everything you do for eventing, Laurie! 👏
