America Reads/America Counts at Duke

America Reads/America Counts at Duke America Reads/America Counts (ARAC) program pairs Duke students with elementary/middle school students in Durham for tutoring in math and literacy.

The America Reads / America Counts (ARAC), a part of the Office of Durham & Community Affairs, is a program designed to enhance the primary-level reading and math skills of children in Durham while offering Duke students a chance to gain valuable experience and give back to their community. Every week, more than 400 ARAC tutors can be found working in Durham’s public schools. ARAC tutors are compensated through federal work-study funds and receive coordination and training.
