Join us in the archives! Our fall event will feature Dave Anderson from the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests which has spent 125 years protecting N.H. landscapes and landmarks.

We'll consider how conservation of forests, wildlife habitats, and recreation trails for future generations is core to the identity of N.H. communities and economy. 🌳 Selections from the Society's papers, held in the library's Special Collections, will be available for viewing.

How can archives support collaboration and community? What does it mean for a university's archives to tell student-focused stories?

These are some of the questions explored by University Archivist Kai Uchida, whose recent outreach includes a poster presentation, “Reels of Protest: A Case Study in Purchasing Film Rights for a University Archives” at the Association of College & Research Libraries Rare Books and Manuscripts Annual Conference (pictured) and a talk, co-authored with Eleta Exline and Morgan Wilson, at the Annual Meeting of New England Archivists.

That talk, “Unearthing 'Storied Lives': Building Resilient and Recontextualized Collections at UNH Library through Community Archives Collaborations," focused on a digitization project in which the library co-hosted a mirror collection with Densho, a Japanese-American community archives based in Seattle. This project centers on the importance of recontextualizing collections that highlight the experiences of marginalized communities from institutional archives, as well as the importance of making these records as widely accessible as possible.

Six weeks until Election Day, Wildcats! ✅ Are you ready to vote?

New Hampshire bars the use of student IDs for voting, so if you're a University of New Hampshire student planning to vote in NH, you'll need a state-issued voter ID before Election Day (if you don't have another acceptable form of identification).

You can get a voucher for a free voter ID and registration from the NH DMV with valid proof of residence, and you can also access
the vital records needed for proof of identity for free—but these things take time, so start the process now!

Or, if you're from another state and planning to vote by mail, don't delay in registering for your absentee ballot. 📨
