Our Special Collections & Archives team finds some AMAZING things in the course of their work! Here's the latest entry in our SCA Spotlight series: Cat Tales. 🐾
Cat Tales is one of several student publications that feature the creative, editorial, and artistic work of students from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Its advertisements, editorials, poetry, short stories, humor, and artwork all capture a unique portrait of campus and its currents from that time, ranging to concerns about ongoing wars to the Ginkgo tree next to James Hall.
Check it out through our Digital Collections today!

We hosted the 2026 Northeast Science Camp for Librarians at the University of New Hampshire this week, offering librarians and library students interested in science and technology the opportunity to learn and network in a fun, laid-back atmosphere.
Forty-five public, academic, and school librarians from more than ten states gathered to hear from UNH faculty and staff on topics that included Indigenous Knowledge in Life Sciences, Social Work for Wellness, Theoretical Physics, and Networked, Participatory Research as Ecological Education.
Our own Eleta Exline and Nikki Cogdill presented alongside Director of the University Writing Programs Meaghan Dittrich on Librarian Publishing: Publishing in the Discipline, Research Impact, and Writing. And attendees got to tour the amazing Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping / Joint Hydrographic Center and our Special Collections & Archives, where Elizabeth Slomba showed off our New England Botanical Garden collection.
Cheers to Liz Fowler and our colleagues at the Boston Library Consortium for their organizational prowess, and thank you to all the presenters and attendees for a phenomenal experience!

We had a great time at the Boston Library Consortium Forum last week! UNH Library faculty and staff members helped lead a roundtable on data literacy, convened a meeting to discuss facilities concerns across institutions, and presented some of the UX work we've done with talk-back boards. 👏 Cheers to all!

Victory! 🏆 We're thrilled to take the CommuteSmart NH trophy (for the sixth year in a row, but who's counting?). Throughout May, we reduced our collective commute by 401 car trips, meaning we:
🚗 Drove 3,838 fewer miles
💰 Saved $2,783
⛽ Skipped 157 gallons of gas
☁️ Reduced our emissions by 3,071 lbs.
❤️ And burned 5,673 calories!
Cheers to our fellow competitors at the University of New Hampshire, including UNH College of Health and Human Services, UNH Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, and Sustainable UNH. See you at the celebration!

We're walking from Durham, biking from Newmarket and Dover, training from Exeter, carpooling from Raymond, and working from home all over the place! Must mean it's the 2026 CommuteSmart NH Challenge. 🚴 We've reduced our collective commute by over 200 car trips so far! (And are leading the competition in our category... no big deal.)
How's it going over there, Sustainable UNH and UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture? We see you!
