We need volunteers! I know we're all busy thinking about school starting virtually, but our most vulnerable kids need our help now. DPS Volunteer Medical Corps is a group working to get medical volunteers into each DPS school once school reopens in 9 weeks. We need volunteers right now, though. For those children most at risk, DPS and community partners are starting DPS Learning Centers to provide a safe place for our most at-risk children to do their virtual learning. These Learning Centers will begin as soon as August 24. We need folks with and without medical expertise to help. Please go to www.DPSVMC.org for more information. I can’t describe the pride and joy I have in my heart right now for the Rogers-Herr Middle school softball team. They finished the season 9-3 this year. I’ve been a volunteer assistant coach for the last 3 years. The first year we didn’t make the playoffs or even get close to making playoffs. Last year we missed it by one game. This year we made and finished 3rd. I have coached some of the girls for 3 years and some for only 1 or 2 but they have all the heart in the world. They enjoyed playing the game win or lose. The joy I have gotten coaching them has been absolutely amazing. To be able to teach them things I have learned in my many years of playing this sport and watching them improve day to day, week to week and year to year has been so fulfilling. I could not be more proud of these girls and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. They will do great in life and be some great softball players. It was my honor to coach them. Even though my life has taken me to another place, I will forever remember my time coaching these lovely girls. Go do great things ladies! Rogers-Herr Lady Rams go do great things.
