For 61 years, Medicaid has helped millions access the care they need. Today, it's a cornerstone of HIV prevention and care—providing access to PrEP, HIV treatment, and the care people need to live long, healthy lives. However, proposed work reporting requirements will create unnecessary barriers that will cause eligible people to lose their coverage.

On Zero Stigma Day, we recognize that stigma remains one of the greatest barriers to health. Recent Supreme Court decisions impacting trans and immigrant communities show how policy can fuel stigma and create barriers to care that extend far beyond the courtroom.

July 1st, Senate Bill 195 went into effect, allowing pharmacists in Georgia to prescribe PrEP directly, and last Friday, for National HIV Prevention Day, Latinos in the South and the Latino Community Fund of Georgia published an op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution celebrating this major milestone.

It's an important step forward, but there's still work to do to ensure Latine communities can access the care they need.

El 1 de julio entró en vigor el Proyecto de Ley Senatorial 195, que permite a los farmacéuticos en Georgia recetar directamente la PrEP. Además, el viernes pasado, con motivo del Día Nacional de la Prevención del VIH, Latinos in the South y el Latino Community Fund of Georgia publicaron un artículo de opinión en el Atlanta Journal-Constitution para celebrar este importante logro.

Juneteenth marks the day that enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Today, we honor that history and recommit ourselves to the fight for collective liberation.

As Black q***r trailblazer Marsha P. Johnson said, “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.”

We owe so much to the resilience and resistance of Black people, whose leadership and vision continues to move our communities forward. None of us are free until all of us are free.

HIV Speaks on Jones Street is back, and this year we’re showing up loud & clear.
