Please put the chain back up at fantasy lake when the booth is unmanned. It’s probably not those of us who frequent the place Leaving it down but still. If you see it down on your way out and the booth is unmanned put it back up.

Jonathan Buck has been trying to get this done for a few years. Weather, schedules, injuries, you name it for both of us. Today we got it done with final checkout on the JJF. Easy run out and back. It all starts here.
Happy Birthday (7/23) to our third worst student. #3 doesn’t like attention but #3 knows who they are.

This is why technical classes are taught the way they are. Sometimes it may seem like unnecessary harassment package but it’s not.
I had been at 110 for 40 minutes and owed about 20 minutes worth of stops. When I got to my 20 ft stop and did a gas switch to 100% O2, I was surprised when nothing came out the hose. I looked at the reg and the purge cover and diaphragm were gone. I don’t know when. They were there when I rolled.
I had options. I could deco on back gas. The planning ensured I had the gas to do it though it would be about 40 extra minutes. I pressed the lever and could still get gas out, like breathing from a free flowing reg. So I pressed the lever for every inhale for 15 minutes. It wasn’t ideal and I tasted a lot of the NC coastal Atlantic water. However without any further issue I was able to complete my deco obligation.
If you want to technical dive or just learn how to deal with this kind of minor excitement that could be major, I know some folks who can hook you up. Spoiler alert, one is me.
Are you landsick? There are still open spots with TDS (Triangle Dive Shop) out of Wilmington this weekend. Brian Davis on Saturday. Hyde Markam on Sunday. If you go to the Hyde lmk if the geocache is still the. Hard to miss.

It’s March. The season will be here soon. If you’re tired of getting run off the deep sites by short NDLs then come find out what this technical diving stuff is about.
TDI Decompression Procedures Diver - Are you finding your no- decompression limits (NDLs) a limiting factor to dives? Do you have to ascend sooner than you would like? As sport divers, planned decompression is not something that we do or have been taught. The TDI Decompression Procedures Course prepares you for planned staged decompress...
Improper oxygen handling and/or cylinder handling in general can result in this. At 29 psi a compressed gas cylinder is considered hazmat. The explosive force of a 3000 psi cylinder is equivalent to being hit by a 3 ton truck at 70 mph.
The point here is to dispose of your cylinders appropriately if no longer needed and make sure you’re having your inspections done at the proper intervals and for the love of Haldanes Goats don’t just throw them in the trash!
You can learn to inspect cylinders by taking the TDI cylinder inspection course or PCI/PSI. We offer the former.
