The ladies of the Alpha Chi and Iota Mu Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated had a wonderful time engaging in business with our graduate chapter, Alpha Zeta Omega, this weekend! The first joint chapter meeting of the year allowed for us to catch up on sisterly conversation with our mentors and hear about each others’ summer endeavors within our communities! 🩷💚

The ladies of the Iota Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated are happy to announce that they will be hosting student tours around Duke’s campus as a welcome to the incoming Class of 2029! Meet us at the East Campus bus stop on August 23rd to prepare for a stress-free first day of college. Chanté is working as a development associate intern with Jericho Road Episcopal Housing Initiative and the New Orleans Museum of Art as a participant of the Mayor’s summer youth program. In her free time she has been spending quality time with her family, exploring pools downtown, and networking with professionals around town, including attending City Councilman Freddie King III’s Young Women Symposium.
Chanté is looking forward to putting on unique and engaging programs and making senior year memories!

This summer, Ali has spent most of her time working as a newly certified medical assistant! While working at an obstetrics and gynecology practice, she was also volunteering at a primary care practice. Outside of work, Ali has been studying for her MCAT exam and visiting family and friends! One favorite experiences is visiting her sorority sisters in New Jersey and Atlanta! Ali can’t wait to spent her senior year completing her senior bucket list and making memories! 🩷💚

This summer, Courtney has spent her time interning with The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com in New Orleans. She has spent her time covering local politics, businesses, and more around Louisiana, publishing multiple stories for the paper. Outside of work, Courtney has been traveling and exploring New Orleans! Courtney can’t wait to spend her senior year dancing and making memories with her sorority sisters! 🩷💚

As summer unfolds, we’re happy to spotlight the continued growth and involvement of our chapter members!
This summer, Ava has been busy immersing herself in her passion for healthcare by enrolling in summer classes and pursuing her phlebotomy technician certification. In addition to her studies, she has been traveling to various hospitals to volunteer, gaining invaluable clinical experience across different specialties.
Ava had an amazing time representing the Iota Mu chapter at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated 2025 Leadership Seminar. As she looks ahead to her senior year, she is excited to reconnect and create lasting memories with her line sisters! 🩷💚

We attended workshops, participated in networking sessions and learned about effective leadership! It was even great seeing our very own Kendall Motley, 2025 Leadership Fellow, during all the festivities!🩷💚

Congratulations to Soror Arielle! Arielle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, and a Minor in Chinese.
She served as Parliamentarian and President of the Iota Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® On campus, she Arielle was the Treasurer and Choreographer for Something Borrowed Something Blue for two years, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Outreach chair for Hoof ‘n’ Horn, Social Chair for Few Quad Council, and Technical Liaison for Duke Players. She also volunteered as a Student Tutor for Generation Great Tutoring, and worked as Box Office Lead and House Manager for the Duke University Box Office. Arielle also participated in the Duke in New York program during the Summer of 2023 exploring creative industries. After graduation, Arielle will be working in real estate property management.
Arielle’s advice for current undergraduates is to remember to take time for yourselves in order to truly thrive - give the world what’s best of you, not what’s left of you! 🩷💚
