The Illustrious ladies of the Iota Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® have worked hard this past month in engaging with various members of the local Durham community through service. We can all say we appreciated the chance to familiarize ourselves with our community through participating in a local highschool program tabling event, assisting in general activities conducted by Pettigrew Rehabilitation Center, meal packing with Duke NPHC and through our own Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®’s CHIPP Program, volunteering at the local Emily K Center Black History Month event, and more! 🩷💚🩷💚

The closing event of our Spring 2024 Skee Week will be themed on fitness! Come out to Wilson Gym to engage in some fun dance routines and learn about the benefits of staying physically active with the ladies of the Iota Mu Chapter. The attire for the event is appropriate active wear and tennis shoes. Bring water and towel!

We thoroughly enjoyed painting pumpkins for the Duke Breast Cancer Institute, packing lunches for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®’s signature CHIPP program, partnering with Keep Durham Beautiful to clean Southside Park, and strengthening our bonds at the NC State Fair! 🩷💚

As Early Voting for Durham’s Municipal Election is coming to a close, the ladies of Iota Mu would like to share some helpful information to assist you in voting!

Voting early will help you avoid long lines and delays on Election Day. If you would like to do Same-Day Registration at Early Voting, be sure to bring some form of identification (with your name and address in Durham). For students on campus, your Duke card will suffice.
Lastly, ensure that your voter record reflects your most up-to-date address.

Voting makes a difference! Make your voice heard at the polls! 💖💚
