Lakewood Avenue Children’s School, a NAEYC accredited, 5-star program in Durham is seeking a full time co-lead teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Our unique approach to early childhood education is play-based, and inspired by the child-led, emergent, project-based infant/toddler centers and preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Our small school is located in a residential, urban neighborhood. We are committed to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and community. Teachers at LACS enjoy above living wage-certified salaries and benefits including health, vision and dental insurance, paid vacations, and paid professional development.

Our ideal candidate holds a minimum BA/BS in Child Development or a related field, or a BA/BS in a non-related field with coursework in child development/early childhood education and experience working with young children. We are looking for teachers who are flexible, adaptable, and excited to be co-researchers with children. Experience or desire to work in a progressive, play-based, Reggio-inspired setting is essential. Candidates should also be excited to work collaboratively as a teaching partner and as part of a small, connected staff. Experience with the documentation, assessment, planning cycle a plus.
