This past month, Clara Pinchbeck (Duke Digital Art History MA Student) attended the College Art Association Conference in Chicago. When she arrived on February 13th, it had begun snowing in the city. Clara quickly made her way to the Hilton Hotel where the conference was being held and tried to stay warm. North Carolina had not prepared her for the Chicago winter!
Clara attended a number of panels and workshops, most of them centering around digital art history and its methods. These included Advanced Topics in Digital Art History: 3D (Geo)Spatial Networks, Creating Digital Humanities Projects in Art and Art History, From Knowledge to Data in Art History, Lost in Translation: Early Modern Global Art History and the Digital Humanities, Undergraduate Poster Presentations, and Using Digitally Immersive Technologies in the Art Historical Classroom. She particularly enjoyed the talks from Advanced Topics and Lost in Translation which directly tied art historical work with digital technologies to enhance scholarship. The conference was exciting, informative, and exhausting all at once!
