Today our 8th grade Science students had the opportunity to complete a virtual lab! Students were mailed packets with the materials required to complete the “A Royal Disease” lab about hemophilia. Did you know that hemophilia is also referred to as the “Royal Disease” because of its prevalence within European royalty during the 19th and 20th centuries?

We had an engaged group of approximately 65 student lab technicians across the state of North Carolina participating and again were complimented on the level of engagement and great questions from our middle school cyber owls! Upon completion of the lab, students were exposed to the myriad of career opportunities available in the biotechnology and life sciences field along with the educational pathways to achieve. Thank you to NCBionetwork for such an amazing opportunity.

Kudos to Dr. Schroeder for making this happen and collaborating with the NC Community Colleges and https://www.ncbionetwork.org/ - simply amazing! Virtual learning at its best!
It's National School Social Work Week 2022 and the theme is “Time to Shine.” School Social Workers shine brightly for their students, families, and school communities. Shining hope. Shining understanding. Shining respect. Thank you Mrs. Timmons for all that you do for our NCCA Middle families, staff, and communities.

Our Story

The NC Legislature authorized a pilot program for online charter schools in 2014 and NCCA opened in 2015 as North Carolina Connections Academy.

Starting in the 2019-2020 school year, NCCA chose to operate with more local control and oversight and changed the name to North Carolina Cyber Academy. Enrollment in this online school is tuition-free. Over the years, NCCA has built a tight-knit school community that offers quality education to create a well-rounded student experience for those who need or desire alternatives to traditional brick and mortar institutions.

The school is open to all North Carolina students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
