Bobbie’s marketing tactics are known to negatively impact breastfeeding. This is exactly why the WHO code of Marketing Breastmilk Substitutes exists - unfortunately the USA did not sign it, leaving families vulnerable to their influence. They’ve used celebrity endorsements, partnered with make-up brands (for exhausted parents!), and have even paid for advertising from pediatricians to recommend the product to families. Bobbie has positioned themselves in spaces for infant and maternal health, using the space to market their formula under the guise of advocacy. They frame themselves as empowering to women/moms/families but they are fully aware that this goes against supporting families.

Formula feeding is reality for families for a variety for reasons. Families absolutely need access and should not be judged for their feeding choice. Bobbie is aware of the influence they have. They need to take accountability and make a change.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has provided high-quality early learning and comprehensive services to more than 40 million children and currently serves around 700,000 children annually, earning strong bipartisan support along the way.

The Administration's proposal to roll back critical health, safety, and quality standards would put children at risk and weaken access to high-quality early childhood education. NAEYC urges the Administration to reverse course on this harmful proposal.

In the coming weeks, NAEYC will provide additional resources, guidance, and opportunities to help early childhood educators make their voices heard by responding to this proposal through October 6.

Some breastfeeding journeys face many challenges. She wasn’t sure her experience was the best example for world breastfeeding week but I’m so grateful she decided to share.

Her journey is truly one of my favorites and I felt it would resonate with other Moms. She’s resilient and inspiring and I’m honored to have been part of her story.

Shift the burden: the government needs to take more responsibility for breastfeeding outcomes. It’s World Breastfeeding Week so let’s talk about how the US government is failing families and what they know they should do to support breastfeeding outcomes.

Let me be clear, I am not anti-formula and I support families to make the best choice for them. Formula can be lifesaving or a more appropriate choice for some families. But there is ample evidence that formula, the Breastmilk Substitutes industry, and the government undermines breastfeeding outcomes.

The burden of breastfeeding isn’t for Moms to bear. The system isn’t designed to support breastfeeding and that is intentional. The US chose not to adhere to the WHO recommendations for regulating the marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes. There is evidence of their lobbying efforts to undermine those regulations.

RFK Jr can tell us that breastmilk is “infant formula made by God” but until he puts a plan in place to support breastfeeding parents, he isn’t supporting breastfeeding. And Operation Stork Speed doesn’t address it. We can’t tell Moms to breastfeed for as long as possible and not mandate paid leave and actual workplace accommodations!











Mothers and families deserve greater support and protections. Right now the system in the US works against the recommendations that we know helps improve breastfeeding outcomes. Every parent should make the choice that best suits their family’s needs, and every family deserves to be adequately supported during their feeding journey.
