FINAL PUSH!
Update on the Augustine Literacy Project GoFundMe campaign:
At present, we've raised $7,743. We need to get to $12,500!
It's important for us to reach that target amount because a generous, long-term supporter has agreed to match all donations up to $12,500 received by the deadline, which is quickly approaching.
Essentially, every dollar donated to the campaign will be doubled. To maximize the generosity of our donor, we need to reach $12,500.
Please consider contributing: https://gofund.me/a626417e
The deadline is looming, WE CAN DO THIS! But we need your help,
Why donate to Augustine Literacy Project?
As students returned to school this fall, many faced unprecedented challenges. A year of online learning has resulted in some of our most vulnerable children falling even further behind academically.
Augustine Literacy Project specifically targets early elementary school children from low-income households with below grade-level reading scores - a population at disproportionate risk for school failure, dropout, behavioral problems, and other challenges without skilled intervention. And a population that has been especially adversely impacted by the pandemic.
We train and support volunteer tutors who provide free, long-term, one-to-one instruction using research-based, Science of Reading methodology.
$25,000 will allow us to recruit, train, place, and support 83 new volunteer tutors in schools throughout the area to help young students who desperately need our services.
These young students need our help more than ever. Consequently, I’m asking everyone I know to chip in and help us mitigate the impact of pandemic-related learning loss and serve more students who need us during this critical time. Thanks!

I witnessed the power of reading when you are engaged. Caring is the first step to engaging. We all can make a difference in less than two hours a week, we can help a child's development.

A simple cure!
I read this article and as I read it, I could think of my experiences with teaching children to learn to read , have been visual . I have noticed the stark difference in those who value and embrace nurturing a child's mind through reading and understanding the language, which is one of the ways we can help those who are less fortunate.
