The Last Girl Project (LGP) is a project dedicated to understanding the prevalence, drivers, responses, and realities of domestic minor s*x trafficking (DMST) and commercial s*xual exploitation of children (CSEC) in contemporary USA.
Tackling this problem requires a more systematic understanding of its prevalence, dynamics and drivers.
This project aims to add to the ongoing work that’s being done across the country in various academic and non-academic platforms, and hopes to become a place where anyone working to eliminate DMST/CSEC in the USA can go to find reliable and consistent data and analysis on this problem.
We hope this work will 1. provide evidence of this phenomenon for all through equitable sharing of data and results, 2. provide a space for all those working in DMST/CSEC to share best practices across the nation, and to 3. contributing to the current ongoing examination of this moral and unjust problem.
Through a multi-sited, 3 year study, this project aims to understand DMST/CSEC through a mixed methods approach.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been focusing our virtual data collection sites in 3 main places, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Atlanta. However, given the flexibility of virtual interviewing, we have been able to expand data collection to the entire country.
