The SE IT Department would like to inform students, faculty, and staff that Instructure has announced they have recovered from their widespread service outage and Canvas is now available for most users. Southeastern’s instance of Canvas appears to be online, stable, and available to users at this time. SE Information Technology will continue to actively monitor the situation, and we will provide further updates should they be warranted.

Canvas by Instructure is currently experiencing a widespread service outage affecting institutions across the country, including Southeastern. Users may experience issues such as:

-Inability to access the Canvas website
-Difficulty logging into Canvas
-Courses failing to load properly
-Errors submitting assignments or accessing quizzes
-Delayed notifications or grade visibility
-Intermittent connectivity and performance problems

The current outage originates with the vendor and is not isolated to Southeastern Oklahoma State University systems. SE Information Technology is actively monitoring the situation, and we will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.

With continued poor travel conditions and cold temperatures, Southeastern Oklahoma State University will be closed through Friday, January 30, in the interest of health and safety of students, faculty, and staff.

Essential services will be provided to residential students on campus, but other academic and business functions will be closed. Online and remote learning classes will proceed as scheduled.
This closure applies to the Durant and McCurtain County campuses. Other satellite facilities will follow local guidance.
