The DMS kindergarten class took their grammar lesson outside this week for a “noun hunt!”

After learning about the function of words in the Montessori classroom, students explored their environment to find real life examples of nouns all around them.

Connecting classroom learning to the real world makes language come alive. And now our kindergartners are seeing nouns everywhere! How exciting 😊.

Ms. Sara’s Lower Elementary class recently visited for a service field trip!

Students selected a book from Maria’s bookstore they have read and would recommend to another child. They then wrote a thoughtful book review to accompany it.

These books will be donated to Durango Manna Soup Kitchen, where children and families can choose a book that will include a special review, written by one of our students.

What a meaningful way to practice literacy skills while giving back to our community. Thank you, for a wonderful opportunity!

Our K-6th students are learning to weave in Ms. Courtney’s art class this week!

We love connecting enrichment to classroom learning by using hands-on, creative projects to deepen understanding and make meaningful cross curricular connections.

This week’s weaving ties directly to our elementary study of early humans and ancient civilizations.

Last week, our PE and Art classes joined together for unique cross curricular adventure. An exploration of the vibrant murals throughout downtown Durango!

Students walked as a group to study these works up close, learning how art brings local stories and history to life.

Inspired by what they saw, students created their own mural drawings and reflected on the importance of public art.

It was a great way to blend movement, creativity, and local history into one learning experience!

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…”

Turn the volume up to brighten your day! Our kindergartners have been loving their music class at Stillwater Music with Ms. Vanessa.

They have learned how to find and play open C on the ukulele. Sometimes a single chord can carry a whole tune if it’s played from the heart!

Our Early Childhood classes have been loving the rainy days lately! Splashing in puddles and running to catch sight of the train as it rolls by has made recess even more magical.

It’s rare for us to receive this much rain in the fall and we are fully embracing it!

A big thank you to our parents for sending in all the proper rain gear so the children can get the most joy out of these cozy, playful days. 🌧️💧🌈

We’re so proud to celebrate Ms. Emma, who has been an incredible early childhood classroom assistant in Ms. Aruna‘s classroom for the past two years.

Ms. Emma just completed her Montessori Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Credential through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies (CGMS)!

Completing this training is a significant achievement in her commitment to Montessori education.

Providing Montessori training to our teachers not only deepens their understanding of the Montessori environment but also aligns our team around a shared mission and vision to help our students reach their fullest potential.

Emma exudes patience, kindness, and a calm presence to our youngest learners every day.

We are so lucky to have you, Ms. Emma. Thank you for all you do!
