Kirk James Music Celebration this Weekend!

Join us this Sunday at Ska Brewing for the inaugural Kirk James Music Celebration, hosted by the Durango Arts Center! Celebrating the life of accomplished Durango musician Kirk James, this event promises live music, a silent auction, and good times benefiting our scholarship program.

Kirk was a legend here in the community, using his creative mind to help make our town more beautiful and his musical ability to teach others. We were so glad to have him as an educator for Stillwater's Summer Blues camps. Celebrating his name and what he loved about life is the perfect way to carry his legacy forward.

Start your weekend right with music from the 2026 Creative Music Conservatory!

CREATIVE MUSIC CONSERVATORY
Live at 5:00 from the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis in Durango!

Featuring contemporary, classical, and ORIGINAL music from members of the Be Frank Youth Orchestra.

From beginners to advanced players, these students started rehearsals on Monday, and will present an hour-long performance live onstage.

The Creative Music Conservatory is a week of enrichment for young string players to learn and grow as musicians, and find their own voice with their instruments! The CMC is the best camp around for any string musician to hone their craft and immerse themselves in music! Taught by leaders in our music scene and thoughtful educators with years of experience, students at the CMC are given opportunities to learn, grow, create, and bond with other musicians.
