We are so excited to welcome our students (Grades 1-12) back to school tomorrow! Kindergarten and Preschool students begin on Tuesday.

A few reminders:

🚗 If you are dropping your child(ren) off or your child drives themself and siblings to school, there are two options for drop off. The first is to park in the parking lot and walk across the street. Elementary students should use the east crosswalk. If your older child brings an elementary aged child, please have them es**rt them to the elementary crosswalk. We do not want any children walking through traffic in the parking lot. If you are just using the traffic loop, please drop JH/HS kids off at the first crosswalk and then continue to the elementary crosswalk to drop off elementary students. Again, we ask for your help with this so that children are not walking through the parking lot.

💙 If you walk your child up to the building tomorrow, you are welcome to wait with them until the bell rings and they can enter the building (8:05AM), but we ask that parents do not come inside with students. We will have extra staff members to make sure that every student knows where they are going. We ask that parents say goodbye to all students before they enter the building. Thank you for understanding.

⏰ Tomorrow (Monday) is a 1:30PM Student Dismissal. There is no after-school care tomorrow. If you are picking up an elementary aged child, please park your car and wait at the edge of the blacktop area. Staff will need to see you before they can release your child (tomorrow and every day). We ask that parents wait at the edge of the blacktop, rather than come up toward the building, so that staff can better monitor students at dismissal.

We love to brag about our maintenance and grounds crew, but it's even more meaningful when other people notice. A special shout out to our one and only, Mr. Corky, who was out doing this work earlier this week! 💙✅

🙌🏻Appreciation post - Durand CUSD 322 does a fantastic job with their landscaping maintenance. It’s looking sharp for the students to head back next week.

We are fortunate that Mr. Farr chose Durand as his place to begin his career as our JH/HS Spanish teacher! We are looking forward to watching him grow our Spanish program. Welcome aboard, Ray!

A little about him:

My name is Ray Farr, and I am extremely excited to join Durand Schools for the 2026-2027 school year! My teachers always had a lasting impact on me, and I knew from an early age that I wanted to provide that kind of support to others. I pursued Spanish because I fell in love with the language and its many cultures, and I want to show students that the world has so much to offer them and that they can better themselves by learning another language to connect with people they otherwise wouldn't have. I'm an alumni of Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University and I encountered a plethora of amazing teachers at these colleges as well! I believe education doesn't stop at school and is a life-long process. I continue to find that in life, there is always something new to learn or appreciate. I look forward to sharing what I've learned with my students and I hope to have a great year! 🙂

Please help us welcome Mr. Kyle DeMus! While he is certainly not a new face to the district, we are excited about his new role.

A little about Kyle:

I am a lifelong Bulldog who graduated from Durand High School in 2007. I earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Elmhurst College in 2011 and spent the next 15 years as a CPA with Benning Group, LLC, serving the Durand - and northwest Illinois - area with income tax, audit, and consulting services.

My wife Autumn and I have been married for 14 years and have four incredible children - Emmett, Atley, Emersyn & Atlas. Most often, you'll find us on a court, diamond, or field somewhere in the area! I enjoy coaching anything and everything my kids are involved in and am entering my 16th season as a Durand/Du-Pec high school football coach (my 2nd as head coach of the Rivermen). I am also President of the Durand Athletic Association.

I am incredibly excited to join the team at Durand Schools! I am most looking forward to merging my passion for the Durand community with my experience in the business world.
