GOT KIDS? Farm PLAYSchool

GOT KIDS? Farm PLAYSchool PLAYschool is a full‑day, four‑day‑a‑week program for children ages 2.5 to 4 — a place for curious hands, muddy boots, and big imaginations.

Welcome to GOT KID'S PLAYschool! My name is Carrie; I offer a full day PLAYschool provider, outdoor loving, mother of four daughters, and mediocre farm wife from Wisconsin. Around here, you will find all things PLAY, tips for raising kids, recipes, farm facts and maybe even a little humor as I help you and your family connect with agriculture through food and play!

I’m taking a school‑garden course right now, and it has me thinking about how much hands‑on food and nature education can add to a school day.
Would a small, well‑run school garden be a selling point for you if you were choosing a private school.
I’d love to hear what families value most?

Happy National Grilled Cheese Day!

Here’s some fun ways to celebrate:

1. Make your favorite version of a grilled cheese sandwich.

2. Do you use American cheese or do you prefer Swiss? What's your favorite cheese?

3. Serve it with your favorite soup and sides, too.

4. Layer it and make a double-decker grilled cheese sandwich. Add ham or bacon for extra flavor and variety.

5. Share with us all the ways you make grilled cheese sandwiches below!

Dirt cups for a tea party because Willie Worm said it’s only polite to serve dessert that matches the guest of honor. Gummy worms included, obviously.

We pulled out sweet corn from our own freezer today—the kind the kids helped shuck last summer, standing barefoot in the grass with silk stuck to their shirts.

One of my school kids asked for it on a no‑school day. He said, “You know… that good corn. Not the gross field corn school feeds us.”

Kids know the difference. They know what real food tastes like. They remember where it came from. And honestly, I love that our little farm program has ruined them for mediocre corn forever.

Happy Sweet Sixteen, Jodi. I still smile every time I see that old photo of you riding the tricycle with little Corrina hanging on behind you — two tiny adventurers with big imaginations and zero fear. You’ve carried that same joy and determination into everything you’ve done since. Sixteen looks good on you, and I hope this year brings moments that feel just as free.
