Today was my last day teaching art at Durand Elementary. I will be venturing into a new position, teaching elementary music, still at Durand. I look forward to the challenge but leave art with a bittersweet feeling. I’ve loved every minute of being creative and having the position offering a bit more autonomy than the self-contained classroom. I know music will offer the same creative outlet for me, plus I will get to see my elementary kiddos twice a week now.
Thanks to all who supported the Elementary Art program through donations and well wishes. I will be leaving the program in the very capable, hands of the former 1st grade teacher, Ashlee Dietmeier. Durand Elementary Art will be seeing some new creativity and I’m sure will be quite a hit with the students!
