From our VISITING ARTIST WORKSHOP series, we welcome rockstar Collage Artist HOLLY CHASTAIN to Spruill in September.

In this two-day Experiments with Paper Weaving workshop, Holly will first teach you different methods of the weaving process. Then she'll guide you in designing and executing your own patterns, and incorporating clipped images and organic shapes.

Come get zen with a fresh perspective on collage creation.

Announcing a VISITING ARTIST WORKSHOP that you won't want to miss! Renowned Atlanta ceramic artist MICHAEL KLAPTHOR will be at Spruill in September for a full weekend of building robots. It will be a great time and you'll learn valuable skills that will translate to your own altered form ceramics.

Last Thursday, we had the great pleasure of joining Spruill instructor Chery Baird to celebrate her birthday in our Community Room. Chery has been a teacher at Spruill for 39 years! It was such a lovely afternoon to spend with her and her friends, many of whom started as students and continue to spend time in her classes every quarter. Happy Birthday, Chery!

Tomorrow at 9 am, Registration for Members Only - Ceramics (wheelthrowing) classes opens. On Tuesday, we open Ceramics (handbuilding) and Mosaics; and on Wednesday, all other classes. Registration for these three days is for people who are Spruill Members Only. Next Monday, General Registration begins.

On Tuesday, August 6, the city of Dunwoody will start a re-paving project to improve the parking facilities at the Cultural Arts Center where Spruill is located. This project will take place over two to three weeks, with limited parking access to some areas while improvements are in progress. Please plan accordingly.

Art classes for Teens and children are a mainstay at Spruill. Before Fall begins, register your Spruill Cool Kid in any of the upcoming 5- and 6-week classes beginning as soon as August 10.

The Spruill Center and Spruill Gallery are seeking artists to enter the 5th Annual AMPLIFY public art project. The artist selected will showcase their work at the Spruill Gallery property, which is a highly visible location in Dunwoody's business district near Perimeter Mall on Ashford Dunwoody Road. The chosen project will be unveiled on October 26 at the annual Spirits for Spruill event.

Last year's AMPLIFY artist, Charity Hamidullah created the stunning mural titled "Big Hug".
