We offer a diverse program of art and contemporary craft classes for all ages, visiting artist special workshops, summer camp programs, a wide variety of events, and hallway exhibitions. Each year the Center serves more than 7,000 students at the Spruill Education Center on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. The Center also sponsors outreach programs, partnering with other organizations to help under-served members of the community. What's happening at Spruill in September?

1) Support Spruill artists at the Student & Instructor Art Market on Sept. 26 from 11 AM - 4 PM! We'll have booths set up throughout the Education Center, and attendees can also contribute to our collaborative community mural! This fair is the main event of our Student & Instructor Appreciation Week activities (more details to come).

2) Have you visited our new Spruill Studios facility in Chamblee yet? Stop by on September 4 from 5-7 PM for a drop-in listening experience with crystal and metal bowls led by Studio artist Claire Paul. Or, come tour the facility during our open studio event on September 12 during Chamblee's Chalk Walk festival!

3) Glassblowing is BACK September 5 & 6! Register for the workshop to make your own glass pumpkin: https://bit.ly/4wqdDvn

4) We're hosting the LAST Salsa Sunday of the year on September 13 from 6-10 PM (18+ ONLY). Enjoy an hour-long dance class followed by an evening of grooving in the courtyard.

5) Join us at Spruill Gallery on September 25 from 6-9 PM for the opening reception of "Material Poesy," our last exhibition of the year.

"You don’t know Southern women. And if a Southern woman gets depressed, she buys a skirt first!"

In the most recent Spruill Blog post, summer intern Skyler walks us through the sun-dyeing workshop she coordinated at Spruill Studios earlier this month. Peek into the process and meet the artist behind it all: https://spruillarts.org/sunlight-silks-a-workshop-to-reincarnate-your-clothes/

Creating with an eye for texture and depth, Spruill student Becky Parsons created this collage with folded paper — solid on one side, and patterned on the other. The patterned pieces were cut from an image of a quilt found in a magazine.

"I think it's interesting to look at the piece from different angles and get a different experience from each view."

You can see this piece in our current hallway exhibition!
