The training was over—but the impact was just beginning.

Someone previously trained through ITEC recently shared a story with us about how he was able to use what he had learned in his own community.

He visited a family compound where he found a woman who was sick, paralyzed, and isolated. Because of difficulties in her relationships with those around her, she was receiving little assistance or visitation, and her condition had become critical.

He sat with her, prayed with her, and examined her. He discovered that she was suffering from malaria and other illnesses and had a fever of 39.8°C (103.6°F). Using his training, he began providing care to help reduce her fever while continuing to pray for her.

But what happened next went far beyond meeting a physical need.

The care, compassion, and faith he demonstrated opened a door with the woman and her family. A study group was formed, and through those conversations, five members of the family professed faith in Jesus Christ.

By training indigenous Christ followers with practical skills, they can meet real needs within their own communities—building relationships and opening doors to share the Gospel.

The training may end, but the impact continues.

It starts with training, but it goes far beyond the manual. 🛠️

ITEC teams take practical, hands-on training into the field, helping participants develop skills they can use and pass on to others.

But the skill itself isn’t the end goal. Practical training helps build relationships, create opportunities, and open doors for the Gospel.

Turning the page is just the beginning.

3 teams. 3 continents. Everyone made it home safe. 🙌🌎

Over the past couple of weeks, ITEC teams have been serving and training alongside people in Africa, South America, and Asia.

From Medical and Mechanical training to teaching a group of students how to build a grain thresher, each team had the opportunity to use practical skills to build relationships and open doors for the Gospel.

We’re thankful for all God allowed these teams to be a part of, for the relationships built along the way, and especially for His protection throughout their travels.

Today, we’re simply grateful to have everyone back home safe. Praise God! 🙌

Why does ITEC train only indigenous Christ-followers?

There are places we simply can’t go.

Some communities are difficult for outsiders to reach, but that doesn’t mean the Gospel can’t reach them.

Our trainees already know the language. They understand the culture. They have relationships and access to communities we may never be able to enter.

Through skills like farming, they can meet practical needs, build relationships, and create opportunities to share the hope of Jesus.

As one Farm Training participant from East Africa said:

“I can now use this skill to preach the Gospel… to tell them about the hope of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

We may not be able to go everywhere. But we can equip those who can.

Today we remember January 8, 1956.

On this day 70 years ago, five missionaries — Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian — lost their lives in the jungles of Ecuador while seeking to share the love of Christ with the Waodani people.

Their deaths marked a moment of profound loss, but their legacy did not end there. What followed was a story of forgiveness, reconciliation, and lives transformed by the Gospel — a reminder that faithfulness can bear fruit far beyond what we can see.

As we remember them today, we honor not only their sacrifice, but the enduring impact their lives continue to have around the world.
