Our new Sphero indi and Sphero BOLT+ robots have arrived, and we can’t wait for our students to start exploring them!

Sphero indi introduces coding, problem-solving, and computational thinking through hands-on learning, with literacy activities integrated into lessons to strengthen reading, communication, and creativity. Sphero BOLT+ allows older students to explore more advanced coding, engineering, and robotics challenges.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in Sphero clubs, where they can collaborate, innovate, and continue building strong STEM skills.

We are so excited for the future of Discovery Academy of Science North Middle School! 🐯💙

At DAS, middle school students are given the opportunity to be challenged, supported, and prepared for what comes next. Through multiple accelerated and high school credit courses, students can finish 8th grade with up to 9 high school credits already completed.

Our recent End-of-Course results show the strength of this model. DAS students earned outstanding results in high school credit math courses, including:

📘 Algebra 1 EOC: 94% proficient with 78 students tested
📐 Geometry EOC: 100% proficient with 28 students tested

These assessments measure mastery of Florida’s high school course standards, and our students continue to show that they are not only meeting expectations, but exceeding them.

From May 2025 to May 2026, Discovery Academy of Science showed continued academic growth across comparable PM3 Reading and Math groups:

✅ K–2 Reading: 80% → 83%
✅ Grades 3–8 ELA Reading: 82% → 85%
✅ K–2 Math: 86% → 88%
✅ Grades 3–8 Mathematics: 88% → 91%

More students reached Levels 3–5 from one year to the next — a reflection of strong instruction, high expectations, and student dedication.

We had a wonderful DAS North Family Day! 🐯💙

We loved welcoming our DAS North families to campus for a day of fun, connection, and community. It was such a special opportunity for families to meet one another, mingle, and begin building the strong school community that makes Discovery Academy of Science so special.

Our principal, Mrs. Costa, along with our administrators and teachers, had a great time visiting with families, answering questions, and getting to know everyone who will help shape the future of DAS North. We were also grateful to have several community organizations join us, helping make the day even more engaging and meaningful. Seeing everyone together on campus made us even more excited for all that is ahead!

Thank you to the St. Petersburg Police Department’s SWAT Unit for joining us at our DAS North Family Day this past weekend!

We are so grateful for community partners who take the time to connect with our families and inspire our students. Their team brought out some of their cutting-edge technology and gave our families a hands-on look at how STEM, engineering, robotics, and problem-solving are used in real-world public safety work.

Our students especially loved getting the chance to see the equipment up close and even control some of the technology themselves! Experiences like this help spark curiosity and show students how the skills they are learning in school can connect to future careers and meaningful work in the community.
