SES Families,

Thank you to all of our students, parents, and guardians for an amazing start to the 2026–2027 school year! Our students have done a wonderful job adjusting to new routines, learning expectations, and getting back into the excitement of being at school. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to make this a successful school year for all of our Blackhawks.

Before sharing this week's newsletter, I would like to ask for your help when using Pick Up Patrol for an early dismissal. When entering an early dismissal request, please use the notes section to identify who will be picking up your child from Susquenita Elementary School. This information is especially helpful to our staff as we work to ensure that students are dismissed safely to the appropriate adult.

Our newest weekly newsletter is now available and includes several important updates and highlights. In this week's newsletter, you will find:

• Our first High Five winners of the school year!
• Our first High Five News of the 2026–2027 school year!

Mrs. Campbell’s class is starting a new academic, social, emotional curriculum this year — PATHS (Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies).

Today, her students finally got to meet Twiggle the Turtle and friends: Henrietta the Hedgehog, Duck, Cat, and Dog. Through the many lessons, students will learn about different emotions and feelings, as well as strategies to improve behaviors and learning. They will also continue to implement Susquenita Elementary’s very own High Five Values!

As we begin our new school year, I want to make sure our families have an easy way to stay informed about everything happening at Susquenita Elementary School. Each week, we will be sharing our school-wide newsletter with important information, reminders, celebrations, and upcoming events.

Our weekly newsletter includes:
• Important updates and information from me, Mr. Ward, including communications that were shared throughout the summer
• PBIS information and reminders about our Susquenita Elementary High Five expectations
• Upcoming school events and important dates
• School-wide announcements and reminders
• Other information that will help families stay connected to what is happening at SES

Next week, August 31st- September 3rd, we will be having our first ever SES Sportsmanship Week. We want to provide students with structured opportunities to practice teamwork, cooperation, safe play, and sportsmanship in a variety of recess activities. Students will rotate through designated stations during recess times. We also want students to wear their favorite Sports Teams, local youth team uniforms/ jerseys, or just showcase their best Susquenita Pride all next week! Mrs. Moran's Kindergarten class went through "bootcamp" to learn how to use their classroom supplies. The students received stickers when they mastered each supply to put on their certificates. They have officially been recruited!
