Through out our course in Creative Freedom with Foundations in Oil Painting, our students learn and strengthen drawing skills as studies for paintings. Drawing skills are essential for painting because learning to draw teaches us to see as artists so that we are able to see shapes, values and colors and learn eye hand coordination skills for both drawing and painting. You will learn how to access the part of yourself that already knows how to draw. You will surprise yourself as you approach each drawing lesson with greater skill sets. Painting flowers is such a beautiful experience and an excellent way to learn how to create images with complex shapes. In this lesson we learn about subject shapes and background shapes and how they piece together to create great composition. These paintings come alive when they express dramatic light and shadow contrasts. This painting process also reveals the nuances of color all within subjects we would consider simply white.
