Our 7th grade STEM students are putting their engineering skills to work designing their CO₂ cars! 📐✏️ They’re measuring carefully, following specifications, and making sure every detail meets the requirements before they start cutting their block of balsa wood.

📐🏠 Measuring Up in Green Architecture!

Our 8th grade Green Architecture students are putting their skills to work! Students worked in teams to measure the classroom perimeter and are using those measurements to create their own rough floor plan sketches. 📏✏️

📏 Measurement Stations in 6th Grade STEM! 🧩

Our 6th graders put their measurement skills to the test with hands-on challenges! Students worked collaboratively to build, measure, adjust, and problem-solve while trying to meet specific dimensions. From building towers to creating chains, they learned that precision matters! 🔨📐

So much measuring, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving happening in the STEM lab this week! 💡✨

🧩 Teamwork Challenge! 🧩

Students worked together to complete a puzzle in just 10 minutes—with no picture to guide them! The real challenge wasn’t just finishing the puzzle; it was learning how to work successfully as a team.

Students practiced communication, teamwork, listening, patience, problem-solving, and supporting one another while staying positive—all important skills we’ll use throughout the year in STEM! 💡🤝

Last weeks STEM activity was all about finding connections, collaboration, and teamwork! 🤝

Students had to talk with as many classmates as possible and, for each person they connected with, find something they had in common. Each connection earned them an index card—and the more cards they collected, the more materials they had to build the tallest tower. 🏗️

It was such a fun way to show students that no matter who your partner is, you can always find something in common and find a way to work together. 💙 The tallest towers weren’t just about building—they were about communication, collaboration, and making connections.

Attention Duncan Middle School families!

STEM applications are now available for the 2026-2027 school year!

If your student is interested in participating in STEM next school year, please have them pick up an application from the front office or STEM classrooms and return it to the DMS office by April 30th.

Important to know:
STEM courses that require an application replace a student's regular science course. More information about STEM courses is provided on the application.
