PWCS - Parent Engagement

PWCS - Parent Engagement We are a volunteer organization comprised of parents, teachers, administrators and support staff. Welcome PTMS Panther Families! ATTEND A MEETING.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, we are a volunteer organization comprised of parents, teachers, administrators and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our students. Unfortunately, due to COVID we have been dormant, but we are back and more ready than ever to get started! We have already begun working behind the scenes to plan many exciting activities and

events for this school year. However, WE NEED YOU TO DONATE and/or VOLUNTEER. As you know, we cannot hold successful events without you, our volunteers. Everything we do is volunteer-based and we are looking to you to help us make the difference. Please consider becoming a member of the PTSO today! Join us virtually and/or in-person** on the first Thursday of each month, via Zoom. During our monthly meetings, we discuss, plan and set goals for the year. We look forward to meetingfamilies, parents/guardians, grandparents, teachers, and other school staff who would like to get involved. Your PTSO membership dues ($10 per family) and donations help fund many things throughout the school year and we are so grateful. Below are some examples of where funds are allocated:

8th Grade Graduation Ceremony
8th Grade Picnic/Dance
Teacher/Sports Team Requests
Back to School Night Dinners for Teachers
Teacher Appreciation Week
Custodial Appreciation Week
Monthly Teacher Appreciation Events
School-wide events like “Boo-Grams” and “Cupid Grams”
Talent Show(s)
Movie Night(s)
Concession Stands*

We believe it is important that we do all we can to enhance our children’s learning environment, as they are our future. Together we can make that happen! We are looking forward to meeting you, hearing your thoughts and ideas and sharing ours with you. If you have any questions, you can reach us at PotomacMS. [email protected]

Zuleitza Villafuerte – President
Tiffany Adams – Vice President
Felicia Williams – Secretary
VACANT – Treasurer

*We may work alongside other departments to help boost funds for PTSO.

**Most meetings will be virtual, but occasionally it is necessary to meet in person.

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude as we count our many blessings over the past year. It is also a time to give generously in support of others. While we are giving thanks for family, friends, health, and wellness, let us also remember to give support during this holiday season and through the winter months.

Many of our local schools' social workers arrange and partner with many non-profits and private entities to provide food, clothes, toys, books, and care each year for children and their families. To support their work, you can donate to SPARK, our PWCS education foundation, who work directly with schools to provide necessary resources for students. Additionally, Northern Virginia Family Service and Action in Community Through Service provide other services in addition to food assistance, such as shelter, life skills, and financial help. I encourage you to reach out to your local school and find out how you can donate your time, support, or resources.
