Meet Sapphire!

Our YHALE dragon mascot now has an official name! Sapphire was nominated and chosen by our students through a schoolwide vote.

And Sapphire is ready for a big job! On Monday, September 21, we kick off our 2026–2027 YHALE Annual Fund with a goal of $85,000 and 100% family participation.

Starting Monday, Sapphire’s scales will go up—one for every family that gives, at any amount. Every family adds a scale. Together, we’ll build our dragon!

Our biggest fall cultural celebration is almost here!

On Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25, YHALE students from every grade will take the stage to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chuseok through songs, dances, stories, and performances in Mandarin and Korean.

These special celebrations bring language and culture to life and allow our students to share what they are learning with their families and our entire YHALE community.

We can’t wait to celebrate with our YHALE families and fill our school with language, culture, music, and joy!

After a long wait and tremendous effort from many members of our community, YHALE’s newly added playground officially opened on August 31, 2026!

Since moving into our new facility, our team and parent community have worked together every step of the way—from fundraising and obtaining approvals and permits to comparing options, preparing the site, installing safety padding and artificial turf, and adding a steel fence to help keep our students safe.

Seeing the joy and excitement on our students’ faces made all the hard work worthwhile!

A heartfelt thank-you to our YHALE staff, families, and parent community for making this project possible through your time, support, patience, and collaboration.

Thank you to our Korean and Mandarin Track kindergarten families for joining us for Cheers & Tears! 💙

This special event gives parents an opportunity to connect with teachers, learn about their children’s progress and classroom experiences, and better understand how we support students as they transition into elementary school and bilingual education.

Our amazing PTO Literacy Committee and Media Specialist, Ms. Jenna, are putting the finishing touches on our Book Fair today, and we can’t wait to welcome our families next week! 📖

YHALE June Camp 2026 has been a blast! 🎉

Our students learned, explored, and had so much fun—studying hard and playing hard all month long!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated June Camp team for creating such an engaging and memorable experience, and to our operations team for working tirelessly behind the scenes to paint, clean, and maintain our campus.

YHALE will be closed next week in observance of Independence Day. We look forward to welcoming our July campers on July 6 for another exciting session!

Yi Hwang Academy of Language Excellence has been recognized as a 2026 Gold Highest Performing school by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement under Georgia's Single Statewide Accountability System.

This honor belongs to every student who showed up and gave their best, every teacher who poured their heart into this work, and every family who trusted us with your most precious people. Behind this recognition is a community that believes in something and has been building it together every single day.

Our students embrace the challenge of learning in two languages. Our teachers refuse to settle for anything less than their best. Our families show up in every way imaginable. This is what Better Together looks like.
