Happy Time Day Care Center

Last week the young 3 year old group read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. To extend the experience on the first day they mixed together yellow and blue paint together to cover the whole paper. Then they got the scraper tool that they used the previous week to make their flower. On the second day they each cut out a big circle/oval that then turned into the hungry caterpillar.

On the last day they then glued their pieces together to make a flower!

On the 3rd day they cut out all the pieces. One stem and stamen, 2 leaves and 6 petals! They were working on their thumb pointing up to the ceiling, opening/closing the scissors and where to hold the paper as they were cutting.

A few weeks ago the young 3 year old group read the book The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. Their first day of art they made the seeds by rolling a pine cone through brown paint to mimic the texture from the book. They also worked together to mixed yellow and red paint that would be the sun.
