Get ready to celebrate traditions, unity, and cultural pride at Harris Elementary! 🌟 We are kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month Spirit Week from September 21st through September 25th, and we want every Wildcat—students, teachers, and staff—to join in on the fun!

Spirit Week Lineup:

Monday, Sept. 21 | Día de Bandera: Rep your heritage’s flag! Wear the colors of your family’s country or bring a mini flag to show your pride. 🇦🇷🇲🇽🇨🇴🇵🇷

Tuesday, Sept. 22 | Brillamos Juntos: Together we shine! Dress in your Sunday best, fancy outfits, or your favorite sharp look. ✨

Wednesday, Sept. 23 | Como la Flor y Sombrero: Channel your inner Selena or vaquero! Put on a flower crown, western hat, or cowboy boots. 🌸🤠

Thursday, Sept. 24 | Be a Goal Getter: Show off your teamwork spirit by wearing your favorite soccer or sports jersey! ⚽👕

Build Closeness With a Dinner Conversation Game
Think back to your own childhood. What do you remember about life at home? For many people, one thing is lots of dinnertime conversations. You may not remember what anyone said … but the fact that you talked and listened to one another made you feel part of a family.
Research shows that eating meals as a family can build children’s vocabulary, improve their manners and build connections that support their efforts in school. But sometimes, children need to be taught the skills of taking part in a family dinnertime conversation.
One effective way is to make a game out of it. Here's one to try: Have each family member tell a story about their day. In the story, the speaker should include one thing that isn’t true. Then, have everyone else take turns guessing what the false thing is.
Activities like this ensure that family members will listen to one another. They will also have a great way to share what has gone on during the day.
