Thank you to all that came out to celebrate passing ESST with us! Though we know our need to reschedule because of #45’s visit to Duluth made it hard for all that played a role to attend, we’re so thankful to everyone that played a role, showed up in support or to share their story, and tirelessly advocated for the needs of folks in our community.

It is hard to recap the story of the ESST campaign in one post - there have been so many folks engaged in this campaign over the course of the past two years - interns, partner & ally organizations, individual community members, candidates for office & elected folks - far too many for us to tag everyone!

We can simply say thank you - to all that shared vulnerable stories about themselves, showed up time & time again at task force & council meetings, volunteered to be on the task force, wrote an LTE or Op-Ed or shared our events online, worked tirelessly on the campaign, and advocated for the world we all know is possible when we show up for each other & care about each other.

Thank you Duluth City Councilors for your work on moving this forward and for ultimately voting to pass an ordinance that improves the economic stability & health of so many folks in the community.

Though we know there is still much more work to do together - this is a glimpse of what we can do when center the needs of our community.

We hope you will join us to celebrate this moment in Duluth's history on June 20th - details, invite & further info to come.

Reader's View: Workers deserve to be treated well always The April 1 letter, "Council has no place dictating to businesses," gave a good description of a common but, I think, limited idea of business. The idea was that the point of a business is to provide a return on the investment of its owners. That is, the bottom line is of overweening import...
