It's a sad and bittersweet day at the YWCA Early Childhood Center, as it is our last day of operating. But we still made the most of it with the kiddos doing some final, very messy, art/sensory projects.

YWCA USA CEO Margaret Mitchell released the following statement in response to the 2024 presidential election:
“Today, YWCA recommits to the work of our mission for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. We will continue to advocate for and alongside women, people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, our disabled sisters, and all marginalized people. Together, we will create change in our communities, our country, and make good on the promise of our democracy.
As we reflect on the outcomes of this election, I want to name the significance of Vice President Kamala Harris’s candidacy and the impact it has had on so many across the nation. Her journey has and will continue to open doors for all of us – especially our daughters, who have now witnessed the audacity of hope -- a Black South Asian woman as the nominee for a major party, running for our country’s highest office.

YWCA USA's Week Without Violence is wrapping up and is all about Taking Action. A new local Duluth organization is doing just that: Ignite, Empower, Transform (IET). They have just launched a new Financial Literacy and Planning resource & I have attached their flyer as well. Financial Abuse is STILL abuse & is often just one spoke of the domestic abuse wheel to prevent you from being able to go anywhere. Always remember you are enough & you are loved.
