We’re proud to be part of Empowering Young Parents! 💜

The Duluth Children’s Museum is partnering with Duluth Public Schools Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) and other community partners to provide a welcoming space for young parents and their children to learn, play, connect, and grow together.

Empowering Young Parents is designed for parents through age 24 and focuses on building strong parent-child relationships and attachment, while connecting families with education and other support.

📍 Thursdays at the Duluth Children’s Museum
⏰ 4:30–6:00 PM
🍽️ Dinner provided
🎵 Parent-child play, stories, music & connection

We love being able to open our doors for programs like this and help make the Museum a place where families at every stage can feel supported and connected. 💜

Our Jefferson location was lucky enough to get a visit from sarah's Septorium today! Both the toddlers and preschoolers (and even some of the infants!) loved the energy and animals she brought into our program!

It’s been a busy week of talking about childcare outside of school!

It started with important conversations at the Women in Leadership Conference (because we ALWAYS talk childcare), followed by the No Country for Mothers screening and panel discussion. Friday afternoon our CEO attended a strategy session workshop in the cities. Two of our team wrapped up the week by hosting a town hall, speaking with candidates, and door knocking with childcare at the forefront of these conversations.

Why put in the time beyond the expectations of normal work?

Because our childcare system is broken and it won’t change unless people are willing to step up, have the hard conversations, and push for solutions.

Families can’t afford to keep paying more.

Early educators deserve to be compensated fairly for the enormous responsibility they carry, yet programs struggle to recruit and retain quality staff without better wages and benefits.

Businesses can’t recruit and retain employees when those employees can’t find or afford childcare.

The reality is that childcare affects every industry, every community, and families across the state. It isn’t just a “family issue,” it’s an economic issue.

We need to start treating childcare like the critical infrastructure that it is.

That means continuing the conversations, bringing people together, and expecting our leaders to take the initiative to find sustainable solutions.

There is a lot of work ahead. We have to keep showing up and doing the work. We appreciate so much that we have people in our community that will put in that work!

Jefferson’s toddler playground has a new fence! We are so excited to be able to stop fighting with the gate every time someone tries to enter!

Two from our management team participated in the Women in Leadership Conference today down at the DECC. It was a great day of learning and connecting, and we always appreciate guidance on how to be great leaders!  We had some great take aways!
