Meet the Team: Lauren is the Flight School Director and has been part of the Duluth aviation community for the past five years. She moved to Duluth to instruct at Fly Duluth and now focuses on creating a supportive, safety-driven training environment for students.
Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, she completed her flight training there and managed a flight school early in her career. She has also worked as a flight instructor at Cirrus Aircraft and taught aviation courses at Lake Superior College.
She holds CFI, CFII, and MEI certificates, along with AGI and IGI ratings. Her academic background includes a degree in Aviation Science, a Master of Public Administration, and a graduate certificate in Emergency Management and Homeland Security all from Utah Valley University. ✈️

Meet the Team: Originally from Zimbabwe, Rufaro began his aviation journey in 2019 through Minnesota State University, Mankato and has been all-in ever since.
He focuses on helping students build strong fundamentals, confidence, and sound decision-making skills in the cockpit. With experience across multiple ratings, he enjoys guiding students through every stage-from first flights to checkrides.
The best part of instructing for Rufaro is seeing students succeed and grow into safe, capable pilots. He hopes to join the airlines soon as he’s nearing his hours! ✈️

Meet the Team: Certified Flight Instructor and LSC graduate Sam began his aviation career in Bemidji MN, earning his PPL before moving to Duluth to pursue training through LSC’s professional pilot program. He has since earned his CMEL, CSES, CSEL, and CFI licenses, currently studying for CFII. He enjoys working with students, helping them learn and continue to pursue whatever their goal might be.

Flight instructor Introductions: Alex has lived in the Duluth area for the past 10 years and began flying shortly after moving there. Aviation quickly grew from a long term interest into a serious passion. While working full time, Alex earned additional certificates and ratings and understands the challenges of balancing flight training with everyday life.
