We are incredibly proud of the amazing work our students do. They are teachers and educational professionals from Minnesota and beyond who bring real challenges from their own settings into the program.

Our students focus their capstone projects on authentic problems of practice. They look beneath the surface, explore root causes, and develop practical responses that can make a difference in classrooms, schools, and educational systems.

Recent capstone topics include:
*How can we improve the culture of disability and accessible practices?
*How can we strengthen middle school engagement and motivation?
*How can literacy strategies support multilingual learners’ mathematical vocabulary development?
*How can we make world history more relevant through real-world connections?
*How can we increase student-to-student talk and vocabulary in first-grade classrooms?
*How can consistent math interventions build stronger number sense?

As one recent M.Ed. graduate shared:
“Your guidance, feedback, and encouragement pushed my thinking, strengthened my practice, and helped me bring this capstone project to life.”

That is the kind of learning community we work hard to create. Our online M.Ed. is flexible, but it is not impersonal. Students are supported by some of the most caring and committed faculty members I have ever worked with. We know online learning, and we do it well.

Students can shape the program around their own interests and professional goals. Many are especially drawn to our certificate options. Our K–12 Literacy and Reading certificate is very popular, followed by Educational Technology.

This is a chance to support the work our EdD students are doing to create real change in their communities.

As a member of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED), we are part of a national network focused on leadership and practice-based research. Each year, CPED hosts a convening where doctoral students can share their work and learn alongside others from across the country.

We are working to support more of our students in attending and presenting at this conference. For many, this would be their first academic conference and an important step in developing their voice as scholar-practitioners and leaders.

Our students are doing meaningful work and have important stories to tell.
This support helps reduce financial barriers and expand access for more students to participate.

Tonight we gathered for a special dinner to honor the very first cohort of our Doctorate in Educational Leadership at The College of St. Scholastica.

Tomorrow, I will have the privilege of hooding them as they walk across the commencement stage.

This group began their studies in the middle of a global pandemic, facing uncertainty with strength, care, and resolve. They built community, asked hard questions, and brought compassion and heart to everything they did.

As the founding program director, it has been an incredible honor to walk along side these amazing students. Their work is already making a difference, and I know their impact will continue to grow.

Cohort 1, you have set the standard. Congratulations!

Opportunity for K12 teachers from any background!!

The INVITE AI Institute, in collaboration with STARS Computing Corps, is currently accepting applications from K-12 teachers in any subject area for the INVITE AI in K-12 Teacher Fellowship Program.

This program is intended to support K-12 teachers in their efforts to introduce equitable and inclusive AI learning experiences for K-12 students.

Selected participants will receive complimentary registration and a $1500 travel stipend to attend workshops on teaching AI in K12 at the national Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Annual Conference on July 8–11, 2024, in Cleveland, OH.

INVITE AI in K12 Teacher Fellows commit to 1) attending at least 3 sessions on AI in K12 at the CSTA conference, 2) attending a follow-up webinar in Fall 2025, 3) piloting an AI resource and/or learning activity in at least one class session in Fall 2025 using best practices for broadening participation in computing, and 4) submitting a written reflection on their experiences as part of the INVITE AI in K12 program.
