True to our name, we believe meaningful connections drive better academic outcomes, so we build a strong circle of support that unites students, families, and educators. Beyond academics, our teachers focus on building fundamental life skills, partnering with families to help students learn how they learn best. Inspired by Ada Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beaty, our youngest learners put on their scientist gear, asked BIG questions, made predictions, and discovered the fun of learning through science! 🧠💡

✨ Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Brittney McKenney

🌱 Every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported - and Mrs. McKenney knows just how powerful that can be.

As Georgia Connections Academy's new Director of Federal Programs and Community Engagement, Mrs. McKenney's passion for education began in second grade when she was the new student in class. Nervous
and unsure of where she fit in, she was welcomed with warmth, compassion, and genuine care by her teacher. That simple act of kindness gave her the confidence to thrive—and more than 20 years later, that teacher still celebrates her successes and encourages her along the way.

Today, Mrs. McKenney is committed to creating that same sense of belonging for every Georgia Connections Academy student and family. Whether she's strengthening family engagement, supporting federal programs, or collaborating with educators across the state, she leads with one guiding question: How does this improve the experience and success of our students and families?

🏅 Fun fact: Mrs. McKenney is a proud Disney enthusiast and an avid runner! One of her favorite accomplishments was completing 48.6 miles in four days at Walt Disney World - including a 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and full marathon.

As our Director of Assessment & Technology, Mr. Benton is passionate about building innovative systems that support student success and empower educators. He enjoys solving complex challenges, using data to improve decision-making, and collaborating with teams to create secure, efficient, and student-centered assessment experiences.

Mr. Benton believes that strong relationships, open communication, and continuous improvement are the foundation of a successful school community. Through his leadership, he's committed to creating processes that help students, families, and staff thrive.

For Mrs. Kari Strong, every challenge is an opportunity to help students grow - and she believes, "We can do hard things!"

As Georgia Connections Academy's Middle School Assistant Principal, Mrs. Strong is passionate about supporting students, families, and educators as they work toward their goals. She enjoys collaborating with teachers, solving problems, and creating systems that help students succeed both academically and emotionally.

Inspired by her mother, a dedicated educator and advocate, Mrs. Strong believes in removing barriers, building meaningful relationships, and ensuring every student has the support they need to thrive. This school year, she's excited to continue strengthening the systems and procedures that lead to positive outcomes for Georgia Connections Academy's middle school community.

🏀 Fun fact: Mrs. Strong loves staying active! She enjoys fitness, learning about nutrition, and playing basketball whenever she gets the chance.
