Welcome to UMD's Indian Students Association (ISA)! ISA is a student governed organization working towards propagating the culture, traditions, arts and beauty of India here in UMD. In a fast paced and diverse city like Duluth, we feel it is necessary to unite and empower people, both of Indian origin and interested non-Indians, and expose our great culture to our community. Our main goa
l is to serve as an approachable organization for our school, students, faculty, and community. We hope to enable these people to enjoy, appreciate, and be a part of our rich and colorful heritage. ISA was founded with the sole purpose of making a significant contribution in context to the student welfare at University of Minnesota, Duluth. ISA wishes to extend its services to the general community so as to promote all round development concerning students in local, state, and national events. A forum for cross cultural interaction transcending all geographical boundaries ISA focus on the welfare of Indian Student Community but its doors are open to all students. Being away from family and friends for many a year the only contact being over a telephone coupled with the extremely tight school work proves extremely difficult to almost every Indian student. ISA provides a means of shortening this distance. With this in view ISA arranges regular activities not only within the university but also provides the door step for Indian students to participate in the normal activities in the City of Duluth. As an association, we arrange activities varying from get-togethers, potlucks, taking up social causes and at the same time enjoying student life. ISA can look forward to being the most active International association within UMD and we take utmost pleasure in collaborating with diverse multi-cultural associations. In the coming years ISA will be conducting various events ranging from our annual Diwali show, movie nights, picnics, Indian parties, and much more. An important aspect of our organization is to network with other clubs, schools, and community associations to build strong relationships with them. We feel this is important in maintaining unity among our community. We welcome the new students to ISA and thank the current ones for your support.
