We received a beautiful fig tree from the Beaulier Family in honor of the late Shari Beaulier, former Stowe Title 1 teacher! This tree was won as just a "little bud" at the Stowe Carnival back in the early 2000s and has been growing with the family since. Now that the tree is old enough to attend school, his classroom is in the atirum. 😊 Thank you Beaulier Family!

Our yearly tradition - going for over 80 years - the Fruit, Flower, Vegetable Show was today! Our students submitted entries from their gardens or creations using fruits and vegetables.

Please welcome one of our awesome new Northwood staff to Stowe!

1) How long have you been working with Northwood or have you worked in similar roles?
I started with Northwood May 2025 as an intern and was hired in August 2025. I have been working with children and families in a variety of settings for the past 20 years.

2) What have you enjoyed/have been impressed by so far at our school?
I have been so impressed by the inclusive and supportive welcome the Northwood program has received. I have also enjoyed the excellent communication and family feel of the Stowe community.

3) What is your favorite thing about working with elementary school students?
My favorite thing about working with elementary school students is that they learn through play which makes therapy fun and engaging.

4) What do you like to do outside of school?
I love to travel, hockey, music, and good food (I also really like to binge some true crime)

5) What is one fun fact about you?
My first "job" was at World of Wheels (we didn't get paid back in the day but got in free at any time and free pop!)

A big shoutout to Mr. Finch, our Social-Emotional-Behavioral (SEB) Specialist, who is also our PBIS champion at Stowe! He leads the implementation of the supports this article talks about. 🐾💙

The district was one of nine recognized across the state for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

Please welcome Callie DeVriendt (Ms. D) to Stowe!

1) How long have you been in Duluth Public Schools/have you worked in any other buildings?
I am currently returning to Duluth Public Schools after having been on a professional leave of absence for a little over two years. I have been working at the MN Dept of Ed in the Equity Diversity and Inclusion Center overseeing a federal grant that builds comprehensive school mental health systems across the state. Prior to that, I worked for Duluth Public Schools for 10 years, most recently at the district office as the Mental Health and Social Emotional Behavioral (SEB) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Coordinator. Before that I was at Lincoln Park Middle School as a SEB MTSS Coordinator. And prior to that I worked at LPMS and Lakewood Elementary as a School Social Worker. I also served as the mental health partnership coordinator for the district for all ten years.

2) What have you enjoyed/have been impressed by so far at our school?
I love the team that I will be working with this year. Great leaders. Also super impressed by how welcoming the building engineer, Mr. Joe, was on my first day at Stowe.

3) What is your favorite thing about working with elementary school students?
My favorite thing about elementary students is their curiosity to learn and how much energy they can bring to the school day.

4) What do you like to do outside of school?
I enjoy spending time with my family and spending time in the outdoors when I can.

5) What is one fun fact about you?
I love dogs and have a St. Bernard.
