Hi Facebook! It feels like it’s been awhile. This summer has been a busy one and today I’d like to fill you all in. I, Miss Emily, am pregnant with my little one due September. With this, I have decided to close school and move locations into my home. Therefore, today is a bittersweet day. The last day with this group. Over the past month, we’ve been able to say our goodbyes to eachother and this space. Today being the final day. Each child and family that has walked through my door has left a special imprint on my heart and i will miss you all dearly.
Although I will open my doors again soon, l I’m feeling all the emotions as they are too. Our time here has been special but we have more memories to make at the new location! Enrollment will be open later this year so watch for that.
For now, this is see you later! 🫶🏽 thank you for following along in our journey and remember: never stop exploring and dirty kids are happy kids!

Thank you to the Duluth Fire Department station 8 for visiting us this morning! The kids got to take a look inside the truck, see all the gear the firefighters wear, and learned about staying safe “get down and out!” 🚒 it was a great morning!

The most perfect morning.
By the end of outside time, this little girl came over and said “hey Miss Emily… you’re the best teacher ever and I love you”. Makes the difficult task of cleaning up, changing 10 kids, laundry, wet, mud, ect all worth it. ❤️

We were a little rescue team this morning. When we came out, our friend W went by our tree and saw this baby bird (after researching we discovered it was a baby pigeon) on the ground. We’re thinking it fell from its nest high up on the tree as it had some blood on his back and pigeons are frequently visiting the tree.
We immediately gave it some space and thought of a plan. I grabbed a box with a towel and placed the bird in it, then wrapped it to stay warm. We called a wildlife rehab and they stated to make a new nest and put it as high in the tree as we can. It’s our job now to watch for its mother to hopefully return.
The kindness, compassion, and empathy exerted from the kids as we carefully observed the bird shake from fear. Once we built the new nest and placed the bird in, we noticed it stopped shaking and started moving around, we made him feel safe. It was a great lesson this morning. We hope for a positive turnout for little birdie ❤️

Rain days truly are our favorite. Almost every kid this morning asked if we’re going outside and all cheered when I said “of course!”
Their sweet laughter while the rain trickles down is one of my favorite sounds in the world ❤️

Enjoying another hot day today but ready for some rain for our forests on fire. As we heard non-stop helicopters this morning, we got to talking about whats happening to our north.
The kids curiosity and helpfulness came out as they asked questions and discussed ways they wanted to help. Some included: bringing water to the firefighters, building homes for the animals, and making cards for the people.
We hope relief is coming. ❤️
