Alex and Lyla compete at the State Debate Tournament this weekend at Eagan High School. Lyla is competing in Congressional Debate on environment, education, and foreign topics. Alex is competing in Lincoln Douglas debating the resolution: the possession of nuclear weapons is immoral. Good luck, Alex and Lyla! Go Greyhounds!

Over the weekend, we had JV Novice State and Congress Sections at Eagan. Lyla earned an At Large Qualification for State and we had many novice members advance into an elimination round. We had a late night but it was worth seeing all the hard work from our debate team. Congratulations also to Dominik Zimmerman and Reija Williams, who also broke elims in novice PF, and to all our debaters! On to districts and sections!

Today was our last invitational tournament of the season, a good tournament to wrap up the season! Looking forward to JV Novice state!!

This was a MASSIVE tournament, but a great experience for everyone, novice or varsity debaters! Congratulations to Lyla Ronkainen in varsity congressional debate and Ishani Thakurta in novice congress for placing in their respective chambers!

Farmington was so fun! It’s a long drive for us, but totally worth it to see our teammate Will win first prize for his costume!!
