Casa de Esperanza, a non-profit in Houston, Texas, provides residential care to children birth through six who are in crisis due to abuse, neglect, or the effects of HIV. Care is provided in the neighborhood by their "Hands of Hope" interns. Interns, most of whom are recent college graduates, join for a year of service (a twelve-month full-time post-graduation internship). Applicants wishing to complete shorter internships are considered on a case by case basis. They provide on-site housing (interns live with the children they are caring for) and interns are from all over the United States.

Cognitive Agility across the Lifespan (CALLA) Lab at UC Riverside: recruiting graduate students
The CALLA Lab at the University of California, Riverside is recruiting new doctoral students for the upcoming academic year. Under the direction of Dr. Rachel Wu, our work is dedicated to better understanding cognitive development (growth) across the lifespan via attending to and learning what is relevant. One line of research, funded by NSF (2019-2024), focuses on how skill learning leads to cognitive development in older adulthood. Another line of research focuses on learning what to learn from infancy to younger adulthood, especially in terms of forming and using relevant categories.
The graduate program in Psychology at UC Riverside offers competitive graduate funding and student support, as well as optional minors in Quantitative Psychology, Public Policy, and Health & Well Being. The University of California, Riverside is a world-class research university with a diverse undergraduate student body and a mission to provide routes to educational success for underrepresented and first-generation college students. The campus is surrounded by mountain ranges and is only an hour away from ski slopes, surfing, and hiking in mountain and desert environments, and the weather is excellent all year round. The cost of living in Riverside is also affordable, relative to LA and San Diego, which are around an hour or 1.5 hours away from Riverside.
The deadline for full admission consideration is December 1, 2019. If you would like more information about the graduate program or the CALLA Lab, please contact [email protected].
