⛈️ A change in schedule, but the music goes on! 🎶

The safety of our community, visitors, artists, and staff is always our top priority. With forecasts calling for strong winds, heavy rain, and possible thunderstorms on Sunday, we’ve made the difficult decision to adjust this year’s Duck Jazz Festival schedule. Trust us when we say that this decision was not made lightly. It is incredibly heartbreaking to find ourselves in this position yet again, but the safety of everyone involved is of the utmost importance.

That being said....

The festival is NOT fully canceled! While all events scheduled for Sunday, October 11, are canceled due to the expected weather conditions, we’re excited to share that Saturday’s music is still on, with an adjusted schedule!

Join us on Saturday, October 10 for two performances:

Adam Hawley: 3:30–5:30 p.m.
Brass Queens: 6–7 p.m.

Then come on over to The Blue Point for the Live Jam and continue grooving with us from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

We know how much the Duck Jazz Festival means to our community and visitors, and we share in the disappointment of these changes. However, given the forecast, prioritizing everyone’s safety is the right decision.

A heartfelt thank-you to our artists for their flexibility and to our community for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming you to Duck Town Green on Saturday for an afternoon and evening of fantastic live jazz!

🚩 September 16, 2026 Beach Conditions Update 🚩

Single red flags are flying at all Duck beaches today due to dangerous ocean conditions. Please be aware that a single red flag does not indicate that ocean conditions are safe for swimming. Ocean swimming is currently NOT recommended. Conditions can change quickly, and the ocean should always be approached with caution and respect.

Just a reminder: lifeguard stands have been removed from the beach, and beach safety services are currently being provided through roving patrols. Beach condition flags will continue to be posted through the end of October.

If you have questions about current beach or ocean conditions, our beach patrol personnel are on duty and available to assist. Always swim near a lifeguard whenever possible!

In the event assistance is needed, please know your location and call 911.

🚩 September 7, 2026 Beach Conditions Update 🚩

Single red flags are flying at all Duck beaches today due to dangerous ocean conditions.
Powerful rip currents are expected — even the strongest swimmers can get pulled out quickly. Do you know what to do if you are caught in a rip? The most important thing to note is that rip currents pull you out, not under.

✔️ Don’t panic or swim against the current.
✔️ Yell and wave for help.
✔️ Stay afloat. Try to relax and float with the current until it weakens.
✔️ Swim parallel to the shore.
✔️ Once you no longer feel the pull of the current, then you can begin swimming to shore.

Just because it’s a single red flag doesn’t mean the ocean is safe. Ocean swimming is NOT recommended.

If you have any questions about beach conditions, guards are on duty and ready to assist. Always swim near a lifeguard. If help is needed, know your location and call 911.

July 24, 2026 Morning Beach Conditions
A YELLOW FLAG DAY with MODERATE rip current risk at all ocean beaches from Corolla, Duck to Ocracoke. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone and always take floatation!

​Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which happens around 10 am today.

Expect cloudy skies today with showers and a chance of thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall. High temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Winds north of Oregon Inlet will be from the northeast around 10 mph. On Hatteras and Ocracoke islands south winds around 10 mph. Surf height around 2 to 4 feet. Water temperatures: Duck Pier...66. Jennettes Pier...68. Oregon Inlet Marina...83. Rodanthe Pier...81. Avon Pier...79.​​

We have been going to Duck for 15 years. This community was by far my favorite community. The clubhouse had a great, friendly staff and parking for the beach access.
Our dog loved it too.

DOUBLE RED FLAG CONDITIONS are in effect at all Duck beaches due to a HIGH rip current risk and powerful breaking waves. Ocean conditions have brought powerful rip/longshore currents and 4 - 8 foot breaking surf making conditions life-threatening for swimmers and ocean rescue personnel. Ocean swimming is not allowed, stay out of the water!

Please note: Double red flags are not currently posted on the beach due to high winds, but this does NOT mean it is safe to enter the water.
