Welcome to UD, Class of 2030!

As these students begin their journey, we're reminded of the difference donor support can make. Scholarships help students take that first step toward a college education and pursue their dreams.

Thank you to those who have helped make this moment possible for the Class of 2030. We can't wait to see all that's ahead for these students.

Stan Hasselbusch (C’70) - 2026 Alumnus of Distinction Award Recipient

Stan dedicated 40 years to L.B. Foster Company, serving in a variety of leadership roles before retiring as President and CEO in 2012. Throughout his career and in retirement, he has remained committed to community service, serving on boards and committees of Autism Connection of Pennsylvania, the Autism Housing Development Corporation of Pittsburgh, the Carnegie Science Center, and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

Since joining the University of Dubuque Board of Trustees in 2019, Stan has been a dedicated advocate for UD and has supported the Wendt Character Initiative, Career Services, and established an endowed scholarship. Though his family has called the Pittsburgh area home for many years, he continues to support his hometown of Clarence, Iowa, and strengthen its connection to the University of Dubuque.

Once a Spartan, Always a Spartan: Jess Dix (C’24)

Jess Dix chose the University of Dubuque for its environmental science program and the opportunity for hands-on learning. From her first campus visit, she knew UD was a place where professors invested in their students and encouraged them to pursue their passions. For Jess, that passion was conservation.

As a student, Jess made the most of every opportunity. She studied abroad in Iceland and Sweden, conducted environmental research as a Butler Land Management intern and Chlapaty Research Fellow, and was a member of the cheer and stunt team. Some of her favorite memories came from the time spent in the field, which strengthened her passion for environmental stewardship.

Returning to UD felt like a natural next step because of her experiences as a student. Today, serving as a conservation technician at Wolter Woods and Prairies Environmental Stewardship and Retreat Center, she helps create those same meaningful experiences for students. Working at Wolter Woods and Prairies allows her to stay connected to the land and community that first inspired her passion for environmental science while supporting conservation efforts and student learning. As a Dubuque native, she takes pride in helping preserve Iowa's natural landscapes and encouraging the next generation of environmental stewards.
